Why do I write? Because the world keeps forming itself to me in words. I wrote my first novel when I was ten years old--a madcap adventure involving a group of detective kids chasing a guy with superpowers and glow-in-the-dark tennis shoes. In college, I majored in Psychology because I had an unrelenting interest in the human psyche, why we do what we do. My pursuits since then have been diverse, ranging from working with youth to ghost-writing to desktop publishing, but in the past couple of years, I've finally returned to my childhood dream: writing full-time. Studying under local authors Skye Moody and Kathleen Alcala, I took the University of Washington Advanced Literary Fiction Certificate program and wrote a young adult novel called The Wanderers. While I seek publication for it, I'm continuing to write short stories, articles, and am starting a new novel. I can't help it: Writing is what puts me in the zone.
